Order with a system: how laundry takes up less space

Tidying doesn't mean hiding

Tidying up is often confused with hiding things away. Order is more likely when every item has a fixed place and is easy to put away. Then less is left lying around after the housework, and the room feels calmer.

1. Right once instead of starting over

Many households buy a new freestanding airer every few years. A wall-mounted clothes drying rack stays on the wall where it was mounted and takes up no floor space.

2. Air drying is gentle on clothes

On the drying rack, clothes dry without the heat of a tumble dryer. That is gentle on the fibres, and your favourite jumpers keep their shape for longer.

3. Flat again after drying

Once you have taken the dry laundry down, fold the wall-mounted drying rack away. It then lies flat against the wall, and the room looks just as it did before laundry day.
